YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Performs U.S. National Anthem At MARLINS Vs. CARDINALS Game (Video)
August 8, 2011Swedish guitar legend and classical metal master Yngwie Malmsteen performed his explosive version of the U.S. national anthem and threw out the first pitch at the Florida Marlins home game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, August 6. Malmsteen will make his triumphant return to North American stages with a fall headlining tour. In support of Malmsteen's latest release, "Relentless", the trek will kick off on Thursday, October 13 at New York City's Irving Plaza.
Of the upcoming dates, Malmsteen commented, "I am very much looking forward to playing new pieces from 'Relentless', as well as Malmsteen classics. Fans can expect the unexpected...I raise the bar with every performance I do and this tour will be no different."
Malmsteen's new album, "Relentless", sold around 1,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release.
Yngwie's previous CD, "Perpetual Flame", opened with around 2,000 units back in October 2008, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Released on November 22, 2010 via Malmsteen's own Rising Force Records, "Relentless" contains more than 60 minutes of brand new material and showcases the guitar great at his best with the signature virtuosity and mind-blowing technical speed for which he has come to be known. "Relentless" also features striking vocals from Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH),who first collaborated with Malmsteen on "Perpetual Flame" (Malmsteen's first album for the Rising Force Records label).
